KVR Rails

The original rails on the KVR were 75 pound rails. These were upgraded at least twice to accommodate heavier loads and heavier equipment.
The last upgrade took place circa 1950 to 100 pound rails, comparable to the Canadian Pacific Railway mainline rails at that time.
The original rail that you can view along the Myra Canyon Trail was cast in 1947. Its length is 13 yards and its weight is 1,300 pounds. Rails are classified by weight per yard (3 feet).
